Process Automation
Process automation refers to the use of technology to automate repetitive and manual tasks within a business process. It encompasses various technologies and approaches to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
Process automation is the strategic implementation of technology to carry out routine and manual tasks within a business’s operations. It’s a broad term that encompasses a variety of technologies and methodologies aimed at making business operations more streamlined and efficient. At its core, process automation is about using technology to perform tasks that would otherwise require human intervention, thereby improving efficiency, reducing the likelihood of errors, and boosting productivity. This allows human employees to focus on more strategic and valuable work.
There are several forms of process automation, including Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which uses software bots to perform simple tasks like data entry; Business Process Automation (BPA), which integrates systems for end-to-end workflow automation; and Workflow Automation, which manages task flow through different process stages. Additionally, Rule-Based Automation follows predefined rules for tasks such as sending notifications, while Cognitive Automation combines RPA with artificial intelligence to handle unstructured data and learn from patterns.
